Located in the heart of Coconut Grove, Harry’s offers fine dining in the laid back atmosphere. Don’t let the casual vibe fool you, the food is out of this world. Family friendly, they offer something for everyone.
Finding restaurants that offer gluten free options can be daunting. Luckily, Harry’s Pizzeria in Coconut Grove is more than capable of handling those who require a gluten free diet. I was lucky enough to visit Harry’s last Sunday and I was beyond impressed with the food, the service, and the understanding of the what it means to be gluten free.
Gluten Free Friendly Restaurants with Kid Friendly Menus can be a hard to find, but they are out there!
The search for kid friendly restaurants with gluten free options.
If your family is anything like mine, they occasionally like to go out to eat, but eating out with my one year old can be quite a challenge. She is not gluten free, and there is nothing she likes more than throwing her gluten-encrusted dinner all over me. She has glutened me on more than one occasion. When she is with me I really need her to eat gluten free, she doesn’t need a sick mama. I started thinking,
Are there any places I would want to take my daughter that have gluten free menus for kids?
Ever since my daughter was born, going out to eat has been a rarity. If we do go out, we are usually grabbing something while I’m in a rush to get to somewhere else. It happens so frequently that I even wrote a post about 7 places you can eat when you are in a rush. Even though it doesn’t happen often, the rare occasion does exist when my husband and I get a babysitter and get to go out for some alone time. One of the few pluses to having Celiac Disease is that I always get to choose the restaurant.

Upon going gluten-free, eating out can become a nightmare. It can be like playing Russian Roulette. Unless the place is 100% gluten-free, you are never going to be 100% sure that what you are eating does not have traces of gluten. No matter how hard you try to plan ahead, and bring your own lunch, it is going to happen. One day, you are going to be out running errands, and all of a sudden it is lunch time. You need to pick up something, but you really don’t have time to sit down. I’m going to be honest with you. There really are not a whole lot of choices. No one has come up with a gluten-free fast food restaurant….yet. Don’t dismay, there may not be a lot of choices, but I have found a few where you can pick up a gluten free friendly fast food meal without it taking a lot of time.
I absolutely love finding new gluten-free bakeries.
Sweet Love Bakery, located in Hollywood, Florida off Stirling (near the Hard Rock) is fantastic. Not only are they gluten-free, but they are free of many common allergies as well. 100% gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and peanut-free, with many of their products being vegan and grain-free. I know what you must be thinking,
How can it possibly be good if it is free of so many things? Where’s all the good stuff?
Well, let me tell you, their baked goods may be free of a lot of things, but the flavor is not missing.
My husband stumbled upon Sweet Love Bakery while looking for a gluten-free bakery so he could surprise me with birthday cupcakes. While he didn’t make it there the day of my actual birthday, he took me the next to pick up cupcakes to take to our families house for a birthday lunch. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the adorable, decorated cupcakes. It is obvious that Sweet Love takes time to make their products look fantastic!
New in Town
There is a new bakery in town AND it is gluten-free and vegan. Start From Scratch has not even been opened a week and I have now been there twice, it is that good! Located in Pinecrest, just south of Trader Joe’s, they have a variety of baked good and a fabulous lunch menu, all from a certified gluten AND dairy free kitchen. It is rare to find such a place in Miami, and to find one this delicious is a real treat. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, owners and staff are knowledgeable, and it is the ONLY completely gluten-free bakery in South Florida. Delicious, vegan, organic and gluten-free, this place is sure to become a hit. Start From Scratch Bakery gets a green light when it comes to being Celiac and Gluten-Sensitive friendly!
My husband and I tried the
Pita Stuffed With Spinach, Tomatoes, Homemade Baked Falafel & House-Made Chipotle Mayo With A Side of Potato Fusion and Nachos Organic Blue Corn Tortilla Chips, Black Beans, House-Made Pico de Gallo, House-Made Chipotle Mayo & House-Made Sour Cream for lunch.
They were great. Pita bread was nice and soft, the nachos were full of flavor. I am not sure what is in vegan sour cream, but it was really good.
My husband and I were lucky enough to have a babysitter the other day. We were so excited to have some time to ourselves and decided to go out to our favorite Japanese/Thai restaurant Thai Moon. Thai food in general is great for people with Celiac Disease because it is naturally gluten-free. I had always loved this particular place because they had a gluten-free menu, unfortunately they had a change in management and no longer offered a separate Gluten-Free menu so there was I was back to having to ask about individual items and guessing.
