The Lunch Rut
When I was kid I despised sandwiches. I don’t know why, but I did not want them in my lunch. I ate a lot of cheese and crackers, as well as cold spaghettios. Not the most appetizing, now that I look back, but it was what it was.Get out of the lunch rut with @firstfreshfoods chicken sausage and creamy garlic aioli! Click To Tweet
Now days, I don’t mind sandwiches so much, but they can still get a bit boring. I like to mix it up when I can. The flavor of First Fresh Chicken Sausage is great by itself, but sometimes I want something just a little bit more. No longer a kid on the playground, I like my sandwiches to have a bit more class.
Gluten Free Ingredients
Having Celiac Disease can make sandwiches a bit hard to make. All gluten free breads are not the same. I really wanted to find a bread that would hold up to the bold flavors of First Fresh Mild Italian Chicken Sausage. Recently I received BFree Food’s new Pita Bread. Pita bread is not a common find in the gluten free world so I was supper excited. It works perfectly paired with First Fresh Chicken Sausage. Both products are healthy, low in fat, and low in sugar. It is a great match.
To take this Chicken Sausage Sandwich to the next level, I created a garlic aioli (by the way, aioli is just a fancy term for mayo!). It isn’t your typical garlic aioli that just adds a bit of garlic to some mayo and that is all. This garlic aioli has garlic, ginger, white pepper. and white vinegar. All of these lend to multiple levels of flavor that pair well with the First Fresh Chicken Sausage.
Honestly, I really wanted to do this with homemade mayo, but as it turns out, I failed at it. I tried the food processor, immersion blender, even the nutribullet. All fail. I thought about trying by hand, but I didn’t want it that bad. If you have a homemade mayo that is fail proof, please link it in the comments.
It isn’t hard, but you do need a special tool- Microplane. If you are phenomenal with a knife, than maybe you don’t, but using a Microplane makes a huge difference. So much in fact that I am giving one away (along with Chicken Sausage!) as part of this post. Here are just a few notes to make your Garlic Aioli experience a great one!
In order to maximize the flavor, grate them using the Microplane! By using a Microplane it almost makes them into a paste which blends easily.
I use white pepper because it blends in and is very fine.
I have a nice white vinegar on hand, but you could also use lemon juice.
Now…I know what your thinking…I want to make this, but I need Chicken Sausage and a Micro Plane! My Gluten Free Miami has you covered. Just enter below to win 2 packages of First Fresh Chicken Sausage AND a Microplane! You will be set to make Chicken Sausage Sandwiches!
