Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits {Copycat Recipe}

Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits- cheesy, garlic biscuits doused with butter and garlicCheddar Bay Biscuits

Cheesy, Garlicky Goodness

Bread is one of those things that completes a dinner, but when you are gluten free it can be a bit tricky. Finding a good recipe that isn’t complicated is tricky and I am not one of those people who buys a trillion flours. Fortunately for these cheesy, garlic biscuits you only need a few ingredients and you will be enjoying delicious biscuits that will have you reminiscing of Red Lobster! Now, these aren’t just for eating with seafood, we often have them with pasta, such as Gluten Free Penne Pasta with Spicy Vodka Sauce.

Now it has been a long time since I actually had a biscuit from Red Lobster, but my husband and his friends assure me that these taste just as good. Give these a try, you won’t regret it!

Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits Recipe Tips

These Cheddar Bay Biscuits are one of our absolute favorite recipes. They are so cheesy and the garlic butter on top just brings them to a whole new level. I’ve made them so many times that I’ve learned a few things that make them come out amazing!

Any Gluten Free Baking Mix-

I’ve made these with Gluten Free Bisquick, Gluten Free King Arthur Baking Mix, and Aldi’s Gluten Free Baking Mix and all of them worked well. I’ve even mixed the baking mixes when I didn’t have enough of one and it wasn’t a problem, so use whatever you have on hand!

The Cheese-

I always use sharp cheddar that is the thicker “cut from the block” type shreds. The fine shredded does not work as well in these. It does not  melt as well.

Let it Sit-

Once you mix it all together, let it sit for 5 minutes or so, it helps the flours to soften so you don’t get any gritty texture.

The Topping-

I usually use 2 tablespoons of melted butter, mixed with garlic powder and oregano, but occasionally I get a little heavy handed and have to make more. Adding extra won’t hurt anything!

And that’s about all you need to know!

Happy Gluten Free Eating!

Hi! I haven’t done it before. Texture wise I think it will be fine, I’m not sure about the flavor, but as long as it’s unsweetened, it should be ok. If you try it, please let me know how it works. You can also always message me through the My Gluten Free Miami facebook page if you have more questions! Thanks!

I was on a gluten free diet for a while to try and help my ulcerative colitis and I totally know what you mean! I had so many different flours on hand, all of which I didn’t end up using completely. That’s so cool how you can use any baking mix. The garlic butter on top is making me drool!

After coming across this recipe on Pinterest, I made these to serve with a stew that my family was having for dinner. They are just as good as they look! I am the only one in the house who is gluten free and I usually feel like I am torturing my family with gluten free versions of things I used to love, but that was not the case with these. My husband and two teenage sons loved them. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

I assume when you say “baking mix,” that these have leavening in them already, such that if you used a gluten free flour blend instead, you would need to add salt and leavening? If so, how much would you recommend?

They do, I usually use Gluten Free Bisquick or Gluten Free King Arthur’s Baking Mix. I’m not sure how much you would need, but they use the same mixes to make pancakes and waffles, I wonder if you could use your pancake mix…I have some, I think I will try it!
