Bite-Sized Appetizers

I love bite-sized appetizers. Honestly, any kind of food I can eat with my fingers is going to win points with me. These gluten free sausage balls have it all. Whether it’s the Superbowl, a baby shower, or a birthday party, I guarantee they will disappear quickly!

Gluten Free Sausage Balls

These little balls of goodness are so easy to make. Because the sausage is already seasoned, you don’t need to add anything else (unless you want to!) If you want to make them look a bit fancy, you can always add a sprinkle of chopped parsley over the top.

Ingredient Notes:

The quality of ingredients is going to make a difference when making sausage balls. Be sure that everything you buy is something that you would eat anyway.

To get the perfect gluten free sausage ball, you have to get in there and get your hands dirty! The mixture has to be mixed by hand to really get the sausage broken apart and all the cheese spread throughout the mixture. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes to allow the flour to soften and prevent a gritty texture.

The cheese: You need 2 and 1/2 cups of cheese. I used a combo of cheddar cheeses and parmesan, but a bit of pepper jack might be nice!

The baking mix: I used gluten free Bisquick. It is easy to find and I used it before in my Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

The sausage: There are many gluten free ground sausages available in the grocery store. Be sure to read the ingredients carefully.

The Butter: Butter helps keep the biscuit mix moist. Extra fat helps keep the gluten free baking mix from having a gritty texture.

The milk: I use 1/3 cup, but if your mixture is too crumbly, you can add an extra splash.

Perfect Gluten Free Party Appetizer

These sausage balls are truly the perfect gluten free party appetizer. Honestly they would make a great snack anytime…I wouldn’t judge you if you ate a few for a gluten free breakfast…maybe with a little drizzle of syrup, it would be like a gluten free sausage pancake. I digress.

Enjoy these gluten free sausage balls and if you make them, be sure to tag me on Instagram or Facebook or even send me an email! I love to see what my fellow gluten free eaters are making!

Although we don’t have diet requirements that require gluten free meals, I do love to experiment in the kitchen. I try to post a few GF recipes on my site. We actually prefer GF pasta over regular pasta. These meatballs sound wonderful. We like using chicken too.
