Make back to school lunches fun with sandwich cutouts and notes so the kiddos know mommy is thinking about them!
Back to School Lunches for Little Ones
Life at my house is always busy. No matter what I do, it just never slows down. As you may know from other posts, I have a very active two and a half-year-old. She is always on the go. A few months ago she started attending day care several mornings a week so mommy has time to blog and create recipes, and she just adores it!
I never expected to become a lunch packing mom so soon, but since she started daycare, making a gluten free toddler lunch is part of my daily routine. Our life is super busy so I depend on brands like Organic Valley to help me make her lunches delicious and healthy. I work hard at home to teach my child good eating habits and I want those healthy habits to continue when she is in school. Organic Valley products are perfect for her lunches because I can trust that they are certified organic and they never use antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides or GMOs.
Quick, easy and healthy is my motto when it comes to school lunches. We are a gluten-free family, so gluten free is also important when making my gluten free toddler lunch. My child loves Stringles of any kind, so they are a must in her lunch. Recently she learned how to “string” the cheese and loves it!
Making a fun, healthy lunch is easier than parents think! Starting with an eco-friendly lunch box and reusable containers, I fill it with organic fruit- berries are her favorite, but she also loves watermelon cut into shapes! Those reusable cupcake molds are perfect for keeping the fruit separate! Next, I make her a gluten free sandwich with Organic Valley American Singles. Now, these aren’t your typical processed American Cheese. The Organic Valley American Singles are all natural. There are no fillers or emulsifiers in them. Only the good stuff! Organic Valley has been making cheese for 20 years, so they know what they are doing!
To make her sandwich fun I like to cut it into fun shapes! It’s so easy and she loves it!
First: Make your sandwich. I like to do 2 slices of gluten free bread, a slice of organic turkey and a slice of Organic Valley American Singles.
Then: Squish the bread! Squishing it helps it stay together when you cut out the shape.
Finally: Cut out flowers, hearts, stars- whatever shapes you like!
I usually get about 4 shapes out of each sandwich, which is perfect for her. Don’t throw away the scraps- they are the perfect little snack after you’re done making lunches for the kiddos!
I always like to include a little note in her lunch, just so she knows I’m thinking about her. It makes her so excited! I’m sure your kids will love little notes too, so I created this printable that you can print and have a whole week’s worth of notes ready to go!
I know back to school time can be a little hectic, but products like Organic Valley help me create “better for you” lunches for my little one. Their full line of organic cheeses makes feeding my family the best tasting cheeses easy!
You can’t go wrong with a simple and delicious gluten free toddler lunch like this. What are your favorite things to pack in your little one’s lunch?
