A Perfectly Free Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day only comes around once a year, but every kid gets excited when it comes. Paper bags decorated to receive tons of little cards and hopefully a few candies as well!

Teachers set up a spread of cupcakes, cookies, and probably some kind of red fruit punch to emphasize the Valentine’s Day theme. It can be a lot of fun, unless your child is the one with allergies. Allergies can turn a fun kids party into a day of worry. While there will always be some concern, there are things that can be done to help make a party fun for all.

Tips for an Allergy Friendly Valentine’s Day Party

There are so many things you can do to make Valentine’s Day fun for everyone.  An allergy friendly Valentine’s Day party is easier than you might think.

  1. Communicate with the teacher. Hopefully, they already know that there are allergies in their classroom, but make sure that in all the business they didn’t forget.
  2. Buy non-candy toys. Target has an awesome selection of Valentine’s that have little animals, pencils, hearts. I found bubbles and stickers at Walgreens. Candy is fun, but kids love little toys too and they are perfect for Valentine’s Day goodie bags.
  3. Offer to bring in allergy friendly treats. If your school only allows store bought items, there are many great allergy friendly cookie brands out there.
  4. If candy is a must, check out these brands. You can even print out this list and give it to your child’s teacher.

Your allergy child doesn’t have to be left out of school activities! If for some reason things don’t go as planned (and even though it shouldn’t happen, sometimes it does), consider having your own allergy friendly valentine’s day party at home! You can even grab some perfectlyfree frozen bites to include in it!

One of the reasons I love perfectlyfree is because not only are they so good (bring on the salted caramel!), they are also allergy friendly. I love having a snack on hand to offer friends.

They are free of the Top 8 allergens, plus they are on the healthier side of dessert. I can satisfy my sweet tooth by popping one here and there, without going crazy.

Another one of my favorite things? They don’t melt in 5 seconds. The outside wrap keeps them together while you snack. If you haven’t tried perfectlyfree, than use their store finder to see if they are in your area. If they aren’t, ask your store to carry them! You won’t regret it!

I wish schools would require all food treats at holiday classroom celebrations to be top 8 free, or at least free of all the allergens pertaining to each classroom. I know how yummy the perfectly treats are and they would be simple for parents to pick up and bring to class, not to mention a huge hit with the kids.

I wish holidays like Valentine’s Day weren’t all about sweets, but this is a helpful guide of “safe” treats. Skittles are actually my favorite!

I love skittles too! It’s hard for those of with allergies and celiac when holidays revolve around food, but there are starting to be more options!

Those look so good! I actually try to avoid dairy myself and I love trying new dairy free desserts. I think I’ll need to pick up a box of the perfectlyfree frozen bites. And who knew that Skittles were allergy-friendly?! Great to know!
