Fried Seaweed to Impress Your Kids (Guest Post)

These crispy seaweed snacks are a hit with children because they’re crispy like potato chips but gluten-free and full of vitamins!

Fried Seaweed

Today I have a guest post coming to you from Claire, at Sumo Chef. As a blogger, I love supporting other bloggers who are beginning their journey. When she told me about making Fried Seaweed Chips that were naturally gluten free, I thought it was a fantastic idea! I love buying them at the store but never considered making them myself. I hope you enjoy this recipe from Claire!

The Search for Healthier Snacks

While I am such a huge baking addict, I also love to balance it with cooking healthy snacks for my kids. May it be small dishes used for sides during dinner or as a treat during snack time, one of my hobbies is to experiment and learn about healthy recipes I can make for my children. They’re picky eaters, so I make sure to incorporate fun and healthy meals that are still delicious. This time, I tried fried seaweed! And I was surprised that it was such a hit with the kids, similar to how they reacted with my bacon jerky. A plus side? It’s gluten-free! If my picky eaters loved it, I’m sure yours will too!

Pro Tips

Wondering how to make this Fried Seaweed Recipe even better? Try following these other tips to help you out:

  • If you’re on a diet or want to skip out on the oil for a lower-calorie option, then omit the oil and use an air fryer instead.
  • Pair the crispy seaweed with drinks to tone down the saltiness of the fried seaweed. You can also use this as a delicious side to Korean or Japanese cuisine. It’s also very popular with Chinese dishes.
  • When using kale or any other spring cabbage, you’ll need to make sure that you thoroughly wash it down to avoid any contaminants. Also, it should be very dry so that the end results won’t be a soggy mess.
  • While I would urge you to consume this warm, you can add any leftovers back in the fridge, and it can last for about three days. But you will lose the crispiness!

Last Words

When it comes to whipping up healthy snacks for the kids, this is much tastier than potato chips! That’s why this Fried Seaweed recipe isn’t only great for the kids, but for the parents as well. Whether it’s a side or a snack, the whole family will appreciate this delicious and healthy treat.

I do hope you enjoyed my recipe and that you try it out soon. Comment down below and let me hear how your kids reacted to the treat! I’d love to listen to what you have to think.

Very interesting and I am so surprised the kids liked it. My kids are super picky too, and I am not even sure I would enjoy fried seaweed, but the recipe actually sounds pretty good. I may even be able to trick my kids into thinking it is something else to get them to at least try it, maybe I will be as lucky as you and they will like it.
